Image to Attitude: Day one of the SWB workshop

Photographers are going to have to work harder in 2009 to succeed! I would like to help you demystify the art of being different, setting yourself apart and creating a demand.

Through the balance of creativity in art and business we will conceptualize strategies to ‘win’ in a tough economy.

We start with creating a better image and stronger style which equates to a more powerful brand. We end with a constructive attitude that will open new doors and create opportunities: living where you want, shooting in a style that you love and attracting brides who respect that kind of freedom.

Powerful frames create powerful opportunity

Better imagery commands a better price

Composition sets you apart in the sea of photographers

What you ‘thought’ you knew about composition! Let's open-up your awareness level!

Getting an hour with the bride & groom at every wedding.

'Beckstead's Next Day' shoot.

How to turn fun bride/model shoots into money

After traveling and photographing in 65 countries, I have insight on how GOALS will enhance your lifestyle and business

How to ‘see’ your developing style

How to find your ‘safe-zone’ and eliminate it.

Marketing to you!

What is your bride-style?

Balancing your giving nature with being who you are and shooting for you.

Who are you?

The 50-50 concept of give and take during the wedding

Getting the groom to love what you do!

'Fun' and 'quick' formals. Tips, tricks & interactive

First contact: selling you and your art

Wedding from booking to workflow

Niche marketing: how to niche and still keep your safety net

Beckstead’s BIG marketing secret!

Realities of being you. Transitioning to being you. Evolving your brand.

‘Walls’ interactive

Day 2: Shoot day. Composition day.

The concept for this day is for students to learn from "One of the 10 best wedding photographers in the world" American Photo Mag.

You will come home with amazing imagery for your portfolio! I will teach you how to best utilize this imagery.

I know you will appreciate that I organize this shoot and not let it become a free-for-all to get the best image.

I also foster an overall feeling of enjoyment of imagery creation and helping each other get great shots.

I start by setting up a pose by explaining my thought process in finding each location, with regards to composition and light.

This is a learning experience for you and there is no shooting during this time. I take some imagery and show you my favorite image.

You then spread out and look for your own composition within a static pose. As we move the model to the next pose, we shoot in movement to create less static style imagery and practice with abstract motion concepts.

This system is very organized and everyone gets a chance to shoot and create without having to 'push' your way in to do so.

I shoot with one model at a time because I want to stop the process at any given moment and tell everyone what I 'see'. I do this often.

Day 3: A critique that is different! A unique concept for critique that will quell your idea that critiques are not enjoyable. You will learn so much from your own critique and others.

You will give me 30 of your own favorite images without regard to what you 'think' I will like.

I will critique occasionally on overall style content on some photographers. I will selectively critique on individual images to explain compositional concepts.

The workshop compositional theme is rounded out with ideas you can successfully incorporate at your wedding and any other photography that you do.

The critique day is gotten rave reviews from students!

SWB in Windsor, Ontario in Canada – August 31st Sept 1-2

Windsor, Ontario in Canada – August 31st Sept 1-2

Amy Britton / Photographic Artist will be hosting

I have wanted to do a workshop in Canada for awhile now. Canadians have a relaxed feeling about life that I appreciate. What is cool is Windsor is a short drive from Detroit also. So photographers from the US can jump on over also. Looking forward to it.

Windsor is known as the Rose City and the Southern most tip of Canada. Detroit is just a hop, skip and a jump from Windsor which makes it quite convenient for people flying into Detroit. It's also famous for it's local area wines, Canadian Club Whisky, beautiful gardens and wonderful restaurants... not to mention the hospitality of very friendly people.
